Hi, me and my family are considering a Bengel, so I will have a lot of questions.
Here are a few:
1. We currently have an altered 2 year old female domestic shorthair cat, two large dogs, and a seven year old girl. The dogs get along with the cat great and so does the our child (her cat). The shorthair is an inside cat and so will the Bengal. Would an altered male bengel be better for us then a female?

2. Are there any good breeders in the Tennessee area? Has anybody know any thing about Enchanted Kits http://enchantedkits.com/About.html or Regal Air http://www.regalairbengals.com/about-us.htm ? I was hoping to find someone local to meet with the cats.

3. We both are gone from the house for about 9 hours a day. At home most of the weekend. Also my wife is a school teacher so she gets to play with the cat almost three months straight. Will a Bengal be happy with us?

Welcome to the forum.

I can't comment on those breeders as I am in the UK but I am sure one of our US residents will drop by shortly.

I would say a male bengal would be your best bet. Mainly because female bengals are very territorial and with a full house, a male would most likely be the better option.

Bengals like to climb, so make sure you have adequate higher places available, which is easy to do if you can afford to buy tall cat trees. If you own your property, you could consider placing wooden shelves up at intervals and around rooms. Or even building an outside enclosure. I'm sure your current kitty would love that too.

As for choosing a bengal, due to the 2 dogs, a child and another cat, go for the kitty that is social, don't pick the kitty that runs and hides, it wouldn't do well in the household that busy.

And most of all, have fun. Once you have a bengal, you'll never go back :p
