Hi i have about a 6 month old bengal kitten, and i think i need to get her a playmate she is starting to act a little distructive i play with her for about 2 or 3 hours through out the day but she still has tons of energy and has started to claw the furniture and tear apart anything that she can get her claws on. I am having a hard time tho deciding what breed would be good for my Trinity do i need to get another bengal or would another breed of cat be ok as long as it has a higher energy level, and i was hoping for some breed ideas if its a good idea to get a different breed

I chose another Bengal not only because of the energy level but also because of the muscular build of Bengals. I was afraid if I got another breed such as a Tonkinese or Sokoke (really wanted one of these) my Bengal would overpower the new cat physically.

I wouldnt worry so much about the breed as long as they are energetic cats / dogs! BB is persectly happy being the only feline in the house we have small dog and she is fine with beating on him a couple of hours a day , well let me say she beats in him but in her defense he does start it! They run and play ans she also just turned months! I think at this age any kitten with some spunk even a moggie from the shelter that has energy will be fine! She is at the age where she will soon mellow out (if spayed ) and the kitten is just getting started! I think you choices are wide open at this point! Its the long term relationship I would think about!

Thanks for all the feedback and yea she has like 4 scratching posts and its not so much i guess clawing the furninture just trying to climb it and sliding back down, and yea i love her to death i just dont want her to be lonely or feeling bored if im not at home

Yeah BB has started doing that to out couch as well! she is not scratching it to scratch but she does scratch the back and sides which is leather when she jumps but does quite make it or when she is stalking the dog and slides down to pounce on top of him! I think if you could afford it I would look into getting another Bengal , there are a lot of Bengal rescue groups that you can look into and maybe luck out and find one that is clost to her age! That would be perfect and of course you could always look into breeders that are retiring queens or studs if you dont want to go back down the kitten route! They are a fraction of the price but yet you still get the beatiful personality and energy of a Bengal!

I'd love to get another kitten for mine but our landlord won't let us have more than 1! As others have said it doesn't need to be a bengal as long as they have the same energy levels!!

would it matter much if the other kitten/cat i got was declawed or not because mine isnt and i wouldnt want to get another cat that was if it would be getting hurt because the one i have now isnt declawed and it was

well i would never declaw trinity but if i got a kitten from a shelter or something most kittens from there are declawed so it was more a question about whether or not the declawed kitten would be good with playing with trinity because trinity isnt declawed and i dont want the other kitten to be accidentally injured if it doesnt have claws

That is a common mistake people make! Kittens are not declawed at shelter most cats at shelters are declawed and are taken to shelters because of the effects from being declawed! I would recommend getting a declawed cat! They can have a lot of issues from being declawed! I know it would be saving a life from a shelter but I am sure there will be kittens at the shelter with al of their claws as well!

Sadly declawing often leads to behavioral issue especially in Bengals they tend to bite. So a declawed cat is usually more aggressive.
