I don't know, I understand them and I see them all over the place. Perhaps this is a generation gap thing.

It's off-putting because I used emoticons you weren't familiar with? I didn't realise emoticons were such a touchy subject. :[ I'm sorry you feel that way, It's just my natural way of typing. If someone said something I didn't understand I don't think I'd make them feel like they shouldn't be able to say it anymore. I do use the emoticons on the forum, but I don't think they cover the full spectrum of emotions I can capture better by using some others. I actually have to resist the urge even now, because I feel they illustrate the emotion I'm trying to get across. I don't know...I'm used to a different sort of online community, I guess. I just don't see what the big deal is, now every time I post I'm going to be thinking "Oh, I shouldn't type that, they might not understand." Just feels sort of alienating.

I dont think anyone was meaning you cant use them or were offended by it , we were just LOST! I now know what they mean so no harm done continue to use and speak the way that you are thats what you do and dont change that because we are behind
