Yes, there are Bengal PUREBREED REGISTERED Bengals that cost less than 800 like I said I paid 500 for my girl and she is purebreed registered and IMO she is a beautiful bengal. Now the boy Thai that I am getting is another story he is not "pet quality" he is show quality so I will be paying more for him! i would rather not say how much but the breeder has given me a HUGE discount because this will be the second that I am getting from her! You can find bengals for a cheap price , if you consider 500 cheap that took 2 months to save that and buy everything we need for her. Thats not cheap, a lot of breeders that show their cats and put a lot of money into the "show" ask more for their cats because they can put champion sired in front of Bengal kittens available. Its not to say that you cant get a show quality bengal for 800 to 1000 and a pet quality like BB for 500 to 800 it all depends on their type and markings! As you can see with BB her rosettes are not uniform she has a domestic head that doesnt look like an ALC, and and she has rib bars all of these factors play a role in how much the cat cost! i have taken BB with me to a friends house and not knowing her aunt breeds top quality bengals in another state. she sent a picture of BB to her and asked what she thought and what a fair price would be. Her Aunt said that she doesnt have the ALC look so she wouldnt be show quality but she would put a price of minium 800 on her. So that just shows that it depends on the breeder , the cat, and also how many litters a cattery has at one time. You might not think that BB is a bengal because I paid a "bargain" price for her but she is 100 % bengal she is an F8 I have the pedigree to prove it!

Personally, I feel like you get what you pay for. I'll revise my statement; I've never found an HCM-scanned parents, PK-def negative Bengal for under 800 (or, maybe with those parameters, 1000).

Both of my kittens parents are tested for pretty much everything you can test for I saw the paper work and talked to the vet myself,even took my kitten there when we first got her and then the next day took her to my vet. All of the cats in her cattery she only has five were negative for HCM and PK-def the test are done every January the vet that she uses specializes in cardiology and he did all the test on all of her cats even her domestic cat. I saw everything with my own two eyes. we can argue about this all day and all night but my eyes dont lie and being a vet tech I know how to read dr notes so I would know if there was anything that wasnt right. I have a certificate that shows all of the cats there are in great genetic health and have a three year warranty on the kittens. would a breeder do a three year genectic warranty if the cats were not screened or if she thought that there was a slight chance that there WOULD or COULD be some thing wrong? I dont think so!!!! If I recall you dont even own a bengal RIGHT? sorry not trying to be rude but my cats are my babies and I will defend them and my breeder until the day I die I have 100% faith in her and her cats!

The fact that I don't own a bengal has nothing to do with this discussion. What a complete non sequitor.... I've been researching and looking at breeders since longer than YOU'VE had a bengal... I'm just saying that in general this is the case. OP has not mentioned anything about health screening, which is usually not offered at that price. Something to watch out for.

Good lord, you'd think I had said that you had an ugly, sickly kitten. I simply said that that is not an "average" price of a Bengal kitten, and it's strikingly low compared to what just about every member on here paid. The number of stories of people getting scammed far outweighs the number of stories of people who found "a good deal."

I don't know, even if it's three months already, that is the normal time that kittens come home... dropping the price to me would be like asking the breeder to give me a discount for doing what they should already be doing.

What generation is this cute boy you're looking at, Fenrir? I'm just curious because he has such a wild look, especially in his face and cute rounded ears.

I am currently looking for a bengal have been for the last year actually longer and yes it was a low blow and I apologized it was rude of me and that is not how I am. The point of it is that you can get a kitten that has been screened and come from healthy lines, like I said before it depends on the breeder the cat really a lot of things determine the price of a cat. So basically what is being saig is that I have a guarentee on a bag of crap!!!! GEEE Thanks I love her she is healthy and I have the papers to prove it. Also my breeder doesnt try to make a living off of her cats and BB was the cheapest she sales them for , that what I could afford and it was based on her coat not her health!!! You all can be very cruel I was out of line I apologized and now being attacked again. What wonderful people we have in this world! Oh and by the way I found my breeder through the TICA registry and on her website! NOT craigslist or some BS classified! I do agree that most bengals do cost more but I got lucky and found a great breeder! I hope the OP has the same luck as this is her thread so if you want to attack me and my HEALTHY cats do so through PM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Fenrir,

If the price is unusually low, you need to find out why. The cat is around the normal age of rehoming (13 weeks), so I don't see why its age should provide a discount.

Also, I wouldn't think the generation of an SBT affects pricing. After F4, the cats are simply SBT, and I wouldn't expect there to be any price different between an "F5" and an "F10". However, for F1, F2, F3 you will pay more, because they are not yet SBT and are considered "early generation" and keeping and breeding ALC and early generation cats is more challenging.

The reason pedigree animals cost what they do is largely because of health screening/health care and good practices. If your cat is mysteriously cheap, you have to wonder if corners have been cut somewhere.

There may be other reasons for the low price. As you mentioned, if the breeder is indeed closing down she may just want to make sure the kitten goes quickly. But this is unusual, and you need to make sure they've got everything else in order.

You need to be a detective when you visit this breeder
