Ready to leave momma??

Hi everyone! I am new here and have been talking with a few breeders on a quest to find my first Bengal. I have heard from some that they prefer to let kittens go at about 8 weeks to have interaction and bonding with their new families as it is a very important time. Other say they prefer 12 weeks to make sure the kitten is healthy and ready to be away from mom. Does anyone have any input on this? I look forward to chatting with you all

The standard is 12 weeks.

8 weeks is far too young, imo. Even if the kittens are already weaned by then, they still have lots of socialization to do with their litter mates. Plus, one of their essential vaccines is given at 12 weeks so it just seems better all-around to wait till after that. Shelters will often let cats go at 8 weeks, but that's because their space is limited and they want to find homes for all the kitties ASAP. EG bengals do need to go home earlier but that's because they bond very differently than SBT bengals... but unless you're getting an EG, I'd go with the breeders who wait 12 weeks.

In the UK we let kittens go at 13 weeks onwards a week after they have had their second vaccinations.

Selling at 8 weeks means that it is 4 weeks less food she needs to buy to feed them, vaccinations are not done either, so all in all a lot of money saved.
