I guess it's really "chance" as to how many kittens are in a litter! I think the fewer for the mother to feed and care for would be healthier in the long run. Usually in really large litters, kittens have to be bottle fed to supplement the mom. There's no way she can feed them all properly. I wouldn't worry about taking a kitten from a small litter -- as long as that's all that was actually birthed from the mom. If you get TICA papers, it may have on there how many kittens were in the litter, however that may reflect only those that survived. I think the breeder would be up front with you if you asked why there were only two kittens in the litter.
