I guess I need to stand up for female felines
. I've had very good luck with them. My two female bengals welcomed Neytiri (female kitten) with very few issues. Now as they are all coming up on adulthood they still get along very very well. My two previous cats were both female moggies, and they lived very peacefully together with very little drama. Also, we read all the time in the forum about owners pulling out their hair because their cats start urinating all over the place because of some little change in the household. In my experience, males seem much more prone to that sort of thing.
Also as another datapoint, one of the popular cat behavior books that I was reading earlier this year mentioned that basically female cats tend to be easier in introductions (either as a newcomer or as the resident cat) in her opinion/experience. Go on! Get a female
