Please can anyone help? We are going out of our minds with the constant shouting of our two Bengals (brother and sister - aged 8 years in January). We get a little quiet time and then they start again. It is as if they are having a shouting match and trying to see who can shout loudest. We do not want to stop them "talking" at all, but would love them to give us some peace. Fortunately, they do have a sleep for a short time during the afternoons - otherwise I reckon we would be camping in the garden so that we cannot hear them.

Any ideas? They have loads of toys and each other.

Our male only seems to yell like that when he's upset, annoyed, or not getting something he wants. When he's happy or curious about something, he makes little quiet "brrrrp" sounds.

Thanks for your replies. Although they do drive us nuts at times it does mean that we get to appreciate the quiet times when they happen!

The shouting is as if they are talking to each other from opposite sides of the world without a telephone!

To be honest I think they were left on their own too much previously and have acquired one or two "habits" like clawing the carpets (in spite of four scratching posts, four special rugs and a scratching tree. Guess we had become set in our ways - but we luv em to bits!

In some ways it is good to know that they are "normal" and having read some of the other posts think perhaps we are getting away lightly.

I am new to the forum, but have been a Bengal mom for 7 years. I have found that yelling back at the cat seems to cause him to think we are having a conversation, and instead of stopping he wants to talk more (my boy,Kaiser, is the talker. My girl, Sassy, is very quiet)

The only thing that seems to let Kaiser know that we have heard enough from him is when we (basically) hiss at him. (When all else fails, talk their language.) He always responds to the hiss (and make it a good aggressive one) and either slinks away or drops to the ground and shows us his belly. As soon as he quiets down I always give him a quick rub and call him a "Good Boy" and then he knows everything is O.K. He is a big ole Loverboy, and can't stand it when I am mad at him.
