I have a 3 year old Bengal boy who is being acting strange lately, he started straying on the wall near our front door, i took him to the vet and he found out that it was a urinary problem, he is currently on Urinary therapy with food( no treats, no canned food, he doesnt like the urinary canned food) and suddenly he changed a spot and now he is peeing in our kitchen bench every time he wants to go out, if i let him out he wont pee but on rainy days or busy days he pees on the bench or comes in the living room where we sit and pee in front of me. I tried a couple of cleaners none works i can still smell it and he is too, i put another litter box but nothing changed. He is neutered and never complained that much, we do play with him we haven't changed anything in the house. Any ideas guys? Thanks

Hmm, a lot of different things there...

Spraying on a door - that's usually a pretty clear indication that he's having some sort of territorial issue, probably with something outside that door.

Peeing in other places inappropriately - I dunno. You mention a possible connection with "letting him outside", so I gather that he is an "outdoor/indoor" kitty? That probably isn't helping things, both with regard to getting stressed out by stuff outside the door and with confusion about where he should "go".

I think the first steps to trying to solve this kind of thing is:

a. Use "feliway" diffuser to lower his stress and reduce his need to "spray"
b. Clean places he has urinated using a special enzymatic cleaner made specifically for the job. Make sure it specifically says "enzymes", and mentions cats and urine. Like this:

c. Use a black-light to find spots that have urine that you may not suspect (note: once you've cleaned such spots with enzymatic cleaner they will still "light up" under a black light, but will no longer smell.
d. Add more litterboxes and put them right at places where he is "going" inappropriately (you may be able to move them to a "better" place once you've solved the problem).
e. Make sure the box(es) and litter are to his liking. Avoid covered boxes, boxes that are too small, and litter with a bunch of perfume in it. If in doubt experiment with different boxes and litters. There's also "cat attract litter" made for situations like this.
f. If none of this helps, you may have to contact a cat behaviorist. They solve problems like this all the time.

Brian makes some good points. Most cats who are neutered early and kept inside will never spray. It's when they are allowed outside and their instincts return that there is an issue indoors. Mine sprays inside and his previous owner allowed him to roam free outdoors for the first six years of his life.

Yes, spraying is a territorial thing. I'm guessing there are other outdoor cats that may come into his "territory" and he is protecting that. First you need to make sure the UTI is gone completely. Second, Natures Miracle is a great product. They have several different blends. I just got their Urine Destroyer from Chewy and will try that. The really bad part is that it is extremely difficult to STOP a neutered male cat from spraying. My bengal gets two walks a day and is spraying every shrub that he comes across. He will usually hold it during the night but will, at time, spray if I don't get him out when he wants to go. I've done things like pick him up and put him in his litter box to get him to go. There are cat diapers that most breeders will use on their studs when they travel to cat shows to keep them from spraying in the hotel rooms. I'm considering purchasing PINK ones for my boy and maybe the color will shame him into stopping. Ha ha.

Additional litter boxes may help with the peeing. Note, peeing and spraying are two different things, although both eliminate the urine from the body. But, you said you added at least one box. Another issue may be the food. I took mine off a prescription diet because he stopped eating it. A cat has to eat. There are other foods out there that specifically mention urinary issues that you might want to try.

Cat urine is the WORST!!!!! And, by far, the #1 behavior issue with cats when they don't pee where they are supposed to. Spraying is a natural instinct for males (and many females).

I am now trying to get him out when he asks I cleaned the spots and I hope that it will help.
We have many stray cats in the neighbour some of the them he likes and he plays when we go out some of them he doesn't, but the trouble is that we have a big yard but is open so cats come through at all times so he is protecting his territory. I can't close the yard and I can't keep him inside or off the windows so that is an issue.

I bought URINE OFF waiting for it to arrive lets hope it works.
It's kind of difficult to try new food because every time we tried he just wouldn't eat it, so we stay with Royal Canin urinary dry food. Our vet told us 6 months only that food and then he will examine him again but i think my boy is not happy with not eating treats or wet food but at the same time he doesn't eat the Urinary wet food .

Doesn't Royal Canin offer a wet urinary tract food? I'm using the sensitive digest wet and dry for my bengal. I've caught my bengal heading to his "spray" area in the morning and I've picked him up and carried him to the litter box and closed the door to the utility room until he has gone in the litter box.

You might want to look into portable enclosures if you can't do something permanent. We used to have a neighbor cat antagonize Raiden when he was in his own enclosure (they moved, thankfully). I know bengals love the outdoors and I do walk Raiden twice a day. It's just never seems enough for him. He loves growling at the stray cats we find on our walks. Raiden has a 12'x12' enclosure on our deck decked out with beds and climbing shelves (and a litter box). The "Prince" Raiden has it made and it doesn't even appreciate it.

They do offer and i bought a couple of them but he doesn't like them, we get's really excited when he sees the pouch and then he walks away no luck. Enclosure is not an option.
