I have always had indoor/outdoor cats and put trackers on them in case they went missing too long. I have always had my cats spayed/neutered and NEVER declawed. I have a fairly large log cabin of around 4000 sqft with lots of nooks and crannies along with a large log that run above my dinning room that can be accessed for the loft. My cats love it up there. I am disabled and rarely leave the house but i am mobile and love playing with my cats. My friends laugh at me because I male and alone with my cats lol.

Now to the questions. Most people on this forum keep their Bengals inside. Does the cat mind? Will it mind if it has plenty of room? I am unsure an underground fence would work or be cruel, thoughts. Tracking collar? Or are they happy enough inside that not risking the investment would be my best options. Will it play nice with other cats. I had 5, currently only 1. Are they any different from other felines and if so in what way?

Anyway thanks. I must know as much info as possible so i can make sure i know what i'm getting into and how to properly care for it physically and mentally. Thank goodness this forum seems perfect for me to get started.

I keep mine indoors because it's more safe. It's also in the breeders contract that he stays strictly indoors. Birds, pests/vermin that they catch can have diseases and parasites, ew. Plus, my cat cost well over $2000 and that's not something you'd want outside unsupervised or not on a harness. I also live in a 850 sqft apartment and we try to give him as much vertical space, my kitten (4 months) doesn't mind it, it was easy for him to get accustomed to the space. 1 cat in this space is enough, so your space should be plenty. He also has a TON of energy, he doesn't stop. He also doesn't care to be held, but he loves to cuddle when it's sleep time.

Oh! And a playmate would help a ton with their well-being, but the friend should have a high energy to keep up with the bengal energy. Bengals get along with other animals easy. A lot of verticals to climb and sit on, a good amount of interactive toys, feeders where they have to earn their treats, cat charmers are endless fun for my boy, and he loves chasing anything that's will roll and jingle. I usually keep a ton of toys in my reach and I throw them all over the living room. Playtime I've learned is a huge must and energy outlet, we've bonded most through playtime. :)

Welcome to the forum. Bengals are not like your ordinary cat. Are you thinking about a kitten or an adult bengal? There is a huge difference. First to your question about letting a bengal outside. Many bengal owners do. If you're on a large property with no neighbors or roads in sight, maybe. Does it make your bengal happier? Probably! Who doesn't want to run free. Toddlers love the challenge, too, but one would never let their two-year old outside unsupervised. Trackers can give you better peace of mind, but bluetooth trackers re useless unless you come into the range of the cat.

Are indoor cats miserable? I highly doubt it. You have a large home with lots of roaming areas. You could create a catio or cat enclosure that would allow outdoor access for your cats and keep them safe.

I do question when a bengal owner makes a huge financial investment and then simply allows the cat to roam free. Regardless of whether your area has predators (coyotes, foxes, large dogs, other tom cats) running wild, bengals get hit by cars, get stolen by people who can't believe they are actually looking at a $$$ bengal and want to take it.

Whether a bengal will get along with another cat is an IFFY question. Your current cat may be territorial and not want another cat or kitten to enter. Some cats understand a kitten more than an adult, but it's really the personality of the cats. You have a large enough home to separate them initially and slowly introduce them to each other and there is plenty of room for each to have their own territory. Just know that bengals need a lot of vertical space and both cats need room for their own territory. It is usually coin toss as to how they co-exist with each other, but I do believe most do well together. Just be prepared to spend time and have lots of patience as you try to get them to behave around each other.

Bengals are loving, loyal, intelligent, energetic, vocal, social cats. But we LOVE them.
