2 days ago I bought new cattreats, salmon flavour
I allready had treats from the same brand, pieces of chicken (97 % chicken), but the shop was out of these ones specific, they had another with chicken but it only contained 65%. So i went with the salmon ones which are 95% fish (and some potato, i guess for keeping the treat together :) )
Finnley isnt bothered if he gets chicken or salmon, he loves both. Ayla loved the chicken ones.
Yesterday i gave them one, and Ayla was batting it around, playing with it, but ate it in the end.
This morning i gave them the chicken ones (still have some left). Finn ate it immidiatly, Ayla refused but kept miauwing, Finn ate her piece (she left it unattended so Finn took his chance lol) I gave Ayla a salmon one, and she starts putting it in her mouth, spits it out, plays with it, takes it up, growls at Finn cause he came too close and she wasnt finished yet and ate it after a couple of minutes.
Since it was odd behaviour i gave her another, she has played for 10 min with it, picking it up, throw it in the air, batting it around, ofcourse shoving it under the door and had to miauw very frustrated. Finn was waiting patiently for her to leave it alone so he could snatch it. In the end she layed beside it at some distance and Finn stepped in and ate it.
No pacing afterwards from her, so i guess she was 'done' with it. But she didnt ate it??
She acted like as if it was prey. They have gotten day-old chicks twice now since i have them. And then she plays with it for 20-30 min before eating it, same behaviour, but she eats it though. Finnley batts his chick around for 2 minutes and then starts eating, he loves his chick though, he is just not enthousiastcly playing with it as Ayla does. After Finnley has finished i put him outside the bathroom so Ayla can keep playing till she is done with her chick.
Should i seperate them when giving this salmontreats? So Ayla gets to play with it and eat it when she wants (or not...)?
It was very cute to see though, however i would like to be able to give her a treat as reward too when im training things, and waiting for her till she is done playing for it doesnt really help that lol. I also was very surprised to see her refusing the chickentreat, she loved it before. Is this just 'spoiled behaviour' (i want the other!!)?
