My Bengal has horrible manners when it comes to humans eating. We have never fed him people food, yet he insists on snatching anything he can during dinner. ( I mean claws out full on standing on your plate type of stuff.. ) I feel like I've done everything to try to get him to stop and nothing has worked.

Has anyone else experienced this? If so, how did you get them to stop? My little guy is about 12 weeks old.

One of the things I discovered with my Bengal is that he has an insanely large appetite. I got him from some friends, and watched how much they fed him and now in hind sight they had been under feeding him . I underfed him for a while too until I gave in and started feeding him as much as he wanted. I now realize that the poor guy had always been hungry with the amount I had been offering. I now feed him two 5.5oz cans per day plus an equal portion of raw beef heart. Sometimes if he talks hungry at midnight, I will give him one of those 3 oz "single portion" cans as a snack so he doesn't wake me yowling and chewing on my cheek at 4 or 5 am. Those itty bitty cans are NOT a single serving for a Bengal. But they make a wonderful snack.

My Bengal won't eat kibble so I cant free feed him.

Bengals have such high energy and high metabolisms they require more calories (and protein content) than a regular cat. I don't think I have ever heard of a fat Bengal.

I would suggest feeding your growing kitten before each human meal, and feed him more than you think is enough. With a full tummy, you should be able to eat in relative peace. You may still need to shoo him away, but he should get the hint more easily. If the kitten is feeling hungry, he will get very creative and insistent to get to that good smelling food. Bengals are smart and can be very creative.

Think of your Bengal kitten as a teenager with a hollow leg when it come to food.

Raiden does not like human food, period. My husband, who is a GREAT cook, tries to give him some, but Raiden will have none of it.That's good. Just leaves more for me.

LOL Brian. I think my hubby uses too much spice for Raiden! He will share his "cheese" with Raiden but Raiden has never been a cheese eater. I did have a cat who loved Doritos and Cheetos. Hmm, I wonder who fed him those?

The household rises early and while Kayley and Bailey are inspecting the backyard Spanky, my 19 year old Bengal, has his first of 5 plates of chicken during the day. When they come in, they are feed their plates of tuna and chicken with 3 types of dry food out if they want to crunch on something besides their cardboard boxes. They have shown zero interest in human food, though they do protest when its time to dice onions and run upstairs. They get dollops of Reddiwhip for their treats .

The only human food that they really lust over is turkey gravy and that requires plenty of lip smacking and grooming afterwards. Their gravy dishes do not require washing!
