Otis (in honor of being an orange tabby) is the cat of a backyard neighbor and it was on the horizontal fence beam looking down at Bailey and his sister Kayley taking morning sun on their patio chairs. After 20 minutes of sunning, Bailey moved towards the fence as Otis moved closer to its own house. Bailey was leaning against a wood fence slat showing off his full puffed tail and growling while looking up at Otis. Kayley, who can't miss ANYTHING moved to within 2 feet of Bailey.

When Otis jumped back into its yard and looked through the slat in the fence at Bailey, Bailey slapped the fence slat has hard as he could, growled and made some duck-like quack sounds that he has not made before. Kayley looked him over, did not look like a duck, walk like a duck but sure did quack like one. Another round of fence slat slapping as loud as he could plus growls and quacks convince Otis to flee to the inside of its home.

Kayley was so impressed that Bailey had his head licked. Anyone else have a Bengal that quacks? Bugs Bunny Bailey......

That is great news because Kayley chirps too and only chirps. Her brother Bailey is the family Jonathan Winters!

I'm amazed at how many sounds a bengal can make. Raiden chirps at the birds. Never heard him sound like a duck, however. LOL

If i am abducted by aliens tonight, it is because Bailey was playing with a light on the ground that was pointing up. He would over the flashlight with his paws, sniff it and remove his paws so the light flashed again. He did this for about 5 minutes and I fear he was signaling to an alien space ship! Not missing yet...

Not sure aliens are interested in cats. I believe they prefer humans! LOL

Otis was back on the fence yesterday and once a sun bathing Bailey saw him, off the chair he charged to the fence. Bailey had his full, fat tail (he is really cute with it), and was growling until he was within a foot of the fence. Of course, Kayley (who NEVER misses ANYTHING) was 5 inches behind him. Once he was within a foot of the fence, he slapped the wood fence slat as hard as he could, growled and "quacked" at Otis. That ended the Otis attempt at entering the Bengal 3's backyard. Kayley looked back at me after the "quacking" as if to say "that is my brother quacking!". Otis fled to the safety of its home and did not linger in its backyard to stare at Bailey through the gap between fence slats.

Immediately thereafter, Spanky came out to the backyard WRHANNAing as loud as he could while looking for a spot to use in the backyard. Kayley, had to charge at him and then he fled to the safety of the tall catnip plants only to find Bailey there! After the 3 raced around the yard with the 19 year old Spanky trotting, they all came in exhausted and thirsty. While Bailey was the first at the bathroom faucet, Kayley cut in line to drink first and Bailey protested by going to the bathroom floor to sit as he unwound the toilet paper roll!

My two love to chase each other, but they bump into furniture along the way. I try to discourage it unless they are out in the large enclosure, but they never bother each other out there.

I like to say that Oberon has a voice that even a mother can't love.

He does have quite a range of vocal expressions. Many are simply endearing when soft and quiet. I don't think that I have heard him quack .... yet.

When he first moved in with me and 2 other cats, he made noises that can best described as from the soundtrack of THE EXORCIST. Scary, low demonic noises.

Now that he is a happy kitty and gets along with the other cats, he doesn't make those scary noises anymore. I almost miss that. LOL.

Unlike Oberon, Bailey was exposed as a very young kit to two ducks that came by to watch a practice walk (well, that was my plan, he sat on his rump to watch the ducks walking towards us) in the front yard. Bailey waved his front left paw at the ducks and they quacked at him. LOL, he must have picked up on that strange sound.

Otis moved behind his fence and was peering between the slats for Bailey. Once Bailey saw Otis, off to the cold, dark and shady Eastern Front he charged with Kayley 2 feet behind him. i suspect that Kayley understands the term "cannon fodder" more than Bailey does! Loud growls by both of the boys followed by Bailey slapping the wood fence slat has hard as he could and only one "quack". That was enough to send Otis into his house.

All the action took place in the cool, dark shade. Bailey naturally thought that his deployment on the Eastern Front was over. Ha, Kayley placed her left front paw on his nose, stopping his movement to the warm morning sun rays and he was re-deployed to the Eastern Front yet again. Twenty minutes later, he was allowed to move into the warm morning sun.

Its good to have an Amazon commander, unless you want to enjoy the morning sun!

At least there some sunlight for your babies to enjoy today. It is cold and gray here. Raiden didn't do is usual walk this morning due to the dampness and chill. Please send your sunshine to Nashville, TN.

This morning the peace on the Eastern Front was disturbed by Otis on the fence, resulting in Generalissimo Kayley mobilizing her brother (and cannon fodder) Bailey to the frontier and here are all three with Bailey awaiting orders:

Lots of growling and pieces of the fence rattled out by Bailey slapping it as hard he could to keep Otis out of the yard. A very successful operation!

Otis (my name for the Orange Tabby next door)has had his long orange fur clipped and he is much smaller than a still growing Bailey, so Bailey was on the fence lording over Otis. Well, Generalissimo Kayley was giving him orders from atop her command center (safely away from the Eastern Fence Front). Here is Bailey receiving his orders:

You can barely see the puffed tail on Bailey, it was so heavy that he was dragging it around! The Easter Front is secure yet again.... The Generalissimo barely escaped from a mutiny.....
