Kayley, my one year old Amazon, has brought 5 field mice home while her brother Bailey has brought 2 home. Of course, Kayley brings them home for play while Bailey is the "closer". Kayley had one mouse running around the TV room and her 19 year old Bengal uncle Spanky briefly chased it. That was his first chase in years! In his youth he brought home bird nests, rats, mice, lizards, birds, snakes and his prize catch, a crayfish dropped in the pool.....

I only have one bengal .... and he is no hunter! LOL

Half an hour after posting my note, Kayley brought another field mouse home onto the covered patio. Their chasing toppled enough empty plastic flower pots that Bailey and I went to investigate. Bailey had it in his mouth and carried over to the lawn for play time with Kayley following. During their chase, the mouse escaped into their catnip corner of the yard and here is Bailey looking for the missing mouse:

There are likely to be Bengals at cat rescues in Springfield OR.

"A Springfield woman has been told by animal welfare officers to downsize her collection of 80 Bengal cats after complaints from neighbors.

The Register Guard reported Thursday that the city could press criminal charges if Debra Perryman doesn't comply.

The city has offered to help her find new homes for the cats and is suggesting she keep no more than five of the animals."

Oh wait ... how could I forget the birds, baby squirrels, chipmunks, mice that Raiden brings in from his enclosure on our deck. I don't know how these animals get in there, but he catches them and brings them back into the house through the cat door. We have still never found the mouse he let in several weeks ago.

Mine are indoors but Ishka deals with all things spider. Thankfully she doesn't gift me the corpses.
Echo prefers flies but there aren't that many.

My Amazon, Kayley brought field mouse #13 into the TV room this morning and after she and Bailey "lost" it, Kayley was sniffing around the coat closet next to the front door. Sure enough it was there and she grabbed it with her mouth and ran to their new Peek-A-Prize box (it has the holes on top and the sides for balls to be pushed around) and dropped the mouse inside the box. She was in a frenzy whapping it and it escaped again and with Bailey's help, they lost it again.

The good news is that they ought to be tired enough to be good at the vet's for their year old shots this afternoon.

Mine have discovered that mice sometimes inhabit the garage. I used to think that Neytiri was the top hunter of my three, but Serafina has surpassed her. When Serafina gets wind of a mouse, she'll stay out there all night, ignoring dinnertime, treats, or anything else. Single-minded she is. And when she gets like that, darned if she doesn't end up catching (and killing) a mouse every time. She has a perfect record in that regard.

My cats would only chase their mouse toys and sometimes my dog toys that's why my Pomeranian tends to get angry and start a war with Pumpkin.

Kayley caught mouse #13 this morning and, of course, brought it into the TV room to chase. It is likely hiding under a cabinet, so no sleep for them tonight! Bailey has been chasing and teasing mouse #14 on the patio for the last 20 minutes with Kayley watching. She is usually very active, so not sure why she is letting him do all the work.

Ewwww. I want the mice out of my house ASAP. I enjoy screaming while my husband chases it with a broom for 30 minutes and then still loses it! The cats aren't much help in the mix either. However, my DSH is sniffing something in the fireplace, so maybe that's where the critter has been for the past 2 months. He has plenty of food and water out to keep him alive.

Kayley, our Amazon, was on the window sill in the puter room overlooking the front lawn where 14 quails were munching away on bread crumbs. After many tail wags and rapid machine gun like sounds, she slapped the window as hard as she could to scatter the quails. Of course, it worked! She then rocketed up the cat condo to the top of the book cases and Bengal connectors between both sides of the hall bookcases, dropped 7 ping pong balls on the way to wake up her brother Bailey and then it was morning nap time. Its good to be the family Amazon!

New field mouse count is 15 with her catching 12 and Bailey "closing" on 13 of them. There is a creek flowing a block and a half away, so the mice move out from there. I have very grateful neighbors and grumpy pest control vendors.....

Kayley, the Amazon of the family brought her first bird catch to the patio. She was in hyper-drive mode and was running around with her tail curled. Of course, she is out hunting for another!

Kayley brought home a recently used wasp hive this morning and left it on the front porch. Another first for the Amazon in the family, she has brought two birds home, the second came home the day after the first one, so i will be careful opening the outside doors tomorrow.
