My 1yr old baby stopped sleeping with me:( and biting

Hey everyone; I have a 1 year old F2 and she has been sleeping with me since day one. I have my pillow that I sleep on and then another big one behind me (hers) but for 4 nights in a row she hasn't slept with her momma:( Makes me feel sad like she is mad at me or maybe not feeling well? She had her first vomit of all her food yesterday but really hasn't been acting sick at all besides that.

**WE HAVE THE SAME ROUTINE EVERYDAY**I work the same time everyday and we always have a playtime in the evening hours to play fetch for awhile; we also (sometimes) will spend time outside with her as well for fresh air and bird watching, but sometimes I feel that may not be the greatest idea with allergens and things when she is an indoor cat?

BITING ISSUES:
She ALSO will not let you cuddle her and hold her for more than 1 minute before she bites my neck and my face (if she can get it). This has been behavior for the whole time I've owned her. I usually set her down when she bites because the word NO sternly does not faze her. I have many scars on my cheeks from her little teeth. which is fine by me as I love her more than the world so I do let her run the home and do what she wants.

ANY advise would be HELPFUL

I wouldn't presume to try to give you behavioral advice for an F2... you wanted a wild cat, and you've got your wild cat there! I have no experience with that, and I continue to be thankful that I have late-generation bengals.

As far as the sleeping preferences... what has the weather been like since her pattern changed? For all the cats that I've had, by far the biggest factor in their sleeping habits have been the weather. They are simply much more cuddly when the temperature drops. That's always something to look forward to when the weather starts to turn colder.

The weather has been hot and humid (which could make sense) maybe momma is too hot for her at night time. We do have air obviously but she sleeps on my head so I suppose if I'm too warm then she is that much warmer.....I just worry that something is bothering her....I wish they could talk (haha)!

Oscar will sleep with me all winter and never in the summer. I imagine it's just a temperature thing. You say she will not let you hold her for longer than 1 min without her going for your face. If she is not happy with the prolonged holding then don't do it! Oscar would definitely get fed up with too much love! :lol:

I think it's better to avoid the issue than let it happen and tell her off for a behaviour you already know she does not like! I would never attempt an F2 and find my F9 (thank you Sherry :biggrin:

Yes. She is definitely wild. I just hope it calms down a bit as she ages. But she is only 1 year old on July 10th so she is still much of a little rascal for sure.

Bengal cats, period, aren't known for being especially cuddly. There are those who are, but most are not. An F2 is a challenge and most breeders won't let them to go to owners who are not experienced in the raising of these wild kits. As for the sleeping -- it can definitely be a seasonal thing. My bengal sleep at my feet just about every night. He may start out on his bed in the living room, but I will wake up during the night and find him at my feet. Your baby is only a year old -- and when the weather is warm, she will seek out a cooler spot. It may not be at your head.

As for the vomiting -- if it was just the one time thing, no big deal. However, if she continues to do this, a visit to the vet would be recommended.

The sleeping habits of my two boys are definitely ruled by the weather. I got them in november last year and up until the end of april they have been sleeping on the bed with me. In may the weather got warmer and they were gone from the bed. Now, when we have a few colder days they sleep with me again, but immediately stop when it gets warmer again. Very predictable.

They both can be very cuddly, but never want to be picked up and held. I can pick them up for a 'kitty lift', to put them on the ground from the kitchen counter for instance, or carry them to the bed at night when they are sleepy, but that is as far as it goes.

I have been giving my Oberon what I call forced loving by picking up and just kissing and cuddling with him for a few seconds, maybe even a minute.

We have discovered that he likes to be thumped on the sides all the way up and down on the body. He hunkers down and gets this totally relaxed look on his face so it is clear he really enjoys being thumped. I have discovered that if I thump him while holding him in my arms he relaxes somewhat and I can old him longer. The minute I stop thumping, he protests and squirms out of my arms.

Raiden HAS to sleep in bed with us every single night. Lately, he's been on hubby's side. Usually he is at my feet and I'm curled up in a fetal position to give him all the room he needs.
