Ok, so this beautiful Bengal walked up to me a couple weeks ago., She is probably the sweetest cat I’ve ever encountered (when she’s not trying to get a treat out of my hand)., I’ve realized at this point, through physical indications and the fact I haven’t been contacted yet after leaving my phone number everywhere someone could possible look, that nobody is looking for her., it’s sad, but at least she has someone that loves her now :)., that being said, she constantly shows affection and I have no doubt she feels safe with me. She sleeps on me, rolls over on her back in my lap, and basically won’t leave my side for more than 10 minutes., The only issue I’m having is that she simply doesn’t want to play., I’ve tried several different toys and I’ve built towers in my house for her., I just can’t find a way to get her interactive., she seems completely content just laying down next to me all day. Maybe this could be due to me working in a chair at home most of the day? Is she unhappy? I’d love to hear any advice as this is not only my first Bengal, but the first pet I’m taking in since moving out of my parents’ house.,

Have you had her scanned for a chip?

Some cats are very lazy, though bengals usually aren't.

Ya, she doesn’t have a chip but has been spayed., and (on your point) that’s why I’m worried. From everything I’ve read about Bengals, they seem to be a very active sort which just isn’t the case with her so far., don’t get me wrong I love her, she is awesome and I don’t mind her being lazy., I just want to make sure it isn’t something I should be worried about

There are a couple of things going on here. When I got my bengal, he was sic years old. He did not know how to play. His previous owner simply never played with him. It took a while of continuing the play for him to start joining in. He still doesn't play a whole lot, but he will go into the bedroom and let me know that he wants me to swish something around for him to chase. Please do not be too concerned. It may be just finding the right toy for the kitty. Raiden loves the cat dancer (super cheap toy) and the wand end of any wand toy. The one time I got a brown paper bag, he literally tore it to pieces playing in it. A laser is also something you can try, although one must NEVER EVER point it toward the cat's eyes.

You don't know where this little gal came from or what her life was prior to finding you. So, patience is the key and just keep trying. At some point, she may come around. Make sure she has a tall cat tree.

Know, too, that most people losing a bengal will be looking for the kitty and post in multiple places. Facebook probably has a lot of lost and found pet pages in your area. Now that you've gotten so attached to her, I know it would be hard if you ended up finding her owner. I've always said that kitties always end up at the door of someone they know will love and take care of them.

It's possible that she would play with another cat, if you are willing to think about that.

I have a cat that it took years to get her to play with toys, because she views other animals and humans as her personal toys.

Cats can be very picky as to what they want to play with. Our primary male, Shinobi, will look at you like you are insane with a bunch of the toys we have. He has no desire to play with them at all.

Some cats are stalkers, some are chasers, some like birds and others mice.
Odds are, you just haven't found the right toy yet.

One important thing: some cats don't "play" right away. They build up to it. When I've heard someone say "My cat doesn't play", it could just be that you didn't have quite enough patience. The basic stages of play for these types of cats:

Phase 1> Staring and gaining interest. This is basically to "rev" their motor. If they are watching what you are doing with interest (ears perked and eyes focused) then you are on the right track. Be a bird, be a mouse, hover, flicker, try to figure out what they want and be that.
Phase 2> Stalk. They will typically start some movement now - it could be just their tail twitching or even a twittering sound. Normally they will start to move forward towards the toy.
Phase 3> Hunt / Catch / Kill. This is what people typically see as "play". These types of cats will "play" for a bit and then want to go back to stalking again. That's perfectly fine.

Some other thoughts: laser pointers are great toys for (some) cats for Phase 1. They did NOT provide the Phase 3 joy of catching and killing so you need something tangible for Phase 3. But it can be a great way to "rev" their motor.
Da Bird is a toy I've had a lot of success with as well as a small stick with a ribbon ball at the end.
