I definitely don't like loud nagging cats, but I sure like to have a sort of communication from now and then. My four months old Snickers has been with me for more than a month now and is too silent! I understand Bengals are mostly very vocal but not all. I remember only two occasions when she was vocal, when I first brought her home and when she got sick on the second week from her arrival. That's it.

Today purposely I wanted to experiment delaying her breakfast for two hours. She did meow following every sentence I communicated with her. But after she ate, that was it... she's silent again. However, her silence doesn't mean she's not active. On the contrary, she's very active, playful, cuddly, interactive... etc. but in silence. She doesn't hide, or is depressed... we have a very good bond indoors and outdoors.

The more I think of it, I think she's the quietest cat I ever had. Will that change as she grows older? Or do I have a one of a kind Bengal?

Thank you in advance.

I would be happy to trade my yowling, howling bengal for your Snickers! I would LOVE to have a bengal who was not constantly crying about something (more like complaining). It is very possible she will get more vocal the older she gets, but be grateful for the time being!

She'll grow out of it... you'll see :-)
Currently being told off (or told about, or told to... don't know, it just sounds demanding) by the quietest of kitties (in the past, a year later those two know what noises get our attention!)

I remember saying something about my kitties being really quiet a few months back. Lol, they definitely grow out of it so don't panic.

Perhaps all of snickers needs are being met and she has nothing to complain about. My girls only fuss when they are not getting something they want or I sleep in. They mostly moan and make sounds with their mouth closed. Oh they can howl alright, I found that out recently when I took Grace to the vet. They are pretty restrained around the house and honestly are hard pressed to complain about anything.

Well, your little Snickers is spoiled rotten! LOL. I loved the idea of locking you and your friend up and letting Snickers have the run of the house, although HOW can someone be scared of cats, especially a cute little thing like Snickers!

yep be careful for what you wish for. My tigger is chatter box, meows when he's hungry, when he's used the litter box, when he wants to going out for a walk. All day long, I cant even use the toilet with him meowing outside the door. Just look at him and he meow. Just s*** up sometimes. lol

LOL Bengal Tigger. I hear you loud and clear and have the same type of bengal! Unless he's sleeping, he's conversing! Or announcing, Or begging. I don't know which! But it can be annoying, especially at 2 a.m.

My Bella, whom I introduced elsewhere in this forum a couple days ago, doesn't talk practically at all. The most I hear from her is the tiniest little thready mew, quite endearing. But that's it. She's the most silent cat I've ever had, bar none, and I've had nine "long-term" (meaning I had them all their lives) cats. I have had three who weren't with me long, including my first, a wonderful Siamese I bought when I was in my senior year of college knowing nothing about cats, and whom I re-homed because my grad school roommate said Sophia cried so much in my absence that she, the roommate, would move out -- in hindsight I should have said, "Well, you'll just have to do that," and maybe then gotten a second cat. The two others were a mother cat and kitten; the mother kept attacking the kitten and I promptly returned them to the person I'd gotten them from. That would make twelve cats in my life. But the other nine I cared for until they were old and passed away. Bar none, Bella is the quietest cat I've ever known. My little rescue cat, Jamie, who gets along with Bella famously, and Bella with her (I made sure to introduce them to each other properly and it worked out very well) makes a sort of running commentary on her life from moment to moment, quite endearing little chirps, chirp-mews, and other sounds, so she makes up for Bella. So: you're not in a unique situation. Unlike Bella, your kitty is affectionate, so I wouldn't worry about her not uttering the sounds Bengals are famous for.

Hymn to the silent BENGAL.

Silent Bengal, lovely Bengal,
All is calm, all is bright.
Round my bed you circle and scratch,
For you, Bella, I can't find a match,
Tiniest mew I have heard,
Quiet as a sleeping bird.
Silent Bengal, lovely Bengal,
All is calm except for you.
Knocking stuff off the table and such,
All in silence, you love this so much,
For you, Bella, no match.
And my new sheets you do scratch.
Silent Bengal, smart little cat,
Upsetting all to get me to act.
You always do get your way,
With nary a mew, I must say.
