Does anyone else have a cat who sharpens BOTH front AND back claws? My Simba routinely rakes his back claws against the cat tree as well as sharpening his front claws. I've had many many cats over the years and never saw a cat do this before. Since Simba is my first Bengal and a couple of people on FB indicated their Bengals did this too, I'm wondering if this is a trait specific to Bengals or not.

I tried my best to upload a picture of him doing this but after the file apparently uploaded, it would fail to appear on my post so I don't know if it will appear when I click put the post online or not. I can't say that mine do - could he be using the scratcher like a kicker toy in your photo ? That would look like he was sharpening his claws.

Never heard of this as the back claws are usually not sharp, period! But Simba is at least using a cat tree scratcher and not your furniture.

Yes my Pearl does this on her cat tree, she also does head stands while trying to do it, it's really funny to watch.
