What is your cat's reaction to catnip and valerian

Have to say both mine react to all kitty drugs. I bought them 'sweetiez' for Christmas from Purrs in Our Hearts, there were two of each, which were cat nip, valerian and power herb mix. All of them had the desired effect!!!

Personally, I don't like valerian, stinks of old socks in my opinion!

No drugs for my kitty! He's never been into catnip and I've never tried Valerian.

I feel Diablo can be wild enough and does not need anything else to help him!

Mine love catnip and I am waiting for valerian root to arrive. I should put catnip out more often. I put some out when it is fresh and forget about it for half a year or more. Maybe they need more catnip!

Thank you for the poll Cranberry. It's been interesting to see how many cats are like my Quasar - neither catnip nor valerian get him going.

I put the Mail on the counter when I came home tonight, but Grace hovered over a little plastic envelope that arrived. She was rolling and drooling all over the well sealed packet! I opened it and sprinkled some on the patio and they clearly love valerian as well as catnip. They even rolled on the counter that had te envelope on it for a long time!

we had a tabby that was like that with catnip - completely out of her mind, rolling around, smacked out of her tiny kitty mind.

We bought a lot of catnip. :-)

Sprinkling cat nip or valerian with my two together would be asking for a blood bath! I have to be very, VERY careful with that as they get totally off their faces and end up having a fight :rolleyes:

otherwise I'd throw them cat nip parties regularly :lol:

I've got bottles of valerian -- for humans. I don't know that the herb is for cats. Haven't checked it out.

This morning Grace was chewing on the paper label from the valerian bag! It is all wet and soggy. She really went crazy for it. They were both happy as could be last night playing with cat springs and dancing around the house.

I've never tried valerian, but mine is not too bothered about catnip. I've sprayed a bit on her toys previously, she rolls around once or twice and then carries on as normal.

Lilzzz, valerian is worth a try - it can be an acquired taste for the humans in the household though. :wink:

The smell fades after a couple of days though.

I got a couple of valerian kickers last week and my 2 were flying round the house like crazy things. :-)
