Hi all. I am new to the forum and am having problems introducing my new kitten (luna) to my one year old female bengal (kleo); both are female. I introduced luna to kleo in a carrier and had a short visit last night. Today we have done a couple of short visits and have a bedroom set up for the kitten. I'm nervous because it seems like Kleo is being a bit aggressive and keeps lunging at the kitten. She's having such a hard time and I'm just nervous for the kitten being hurt. I've tried catnip, calming kitty air fresheners, calming kitty treats, etc. Nothing seems to help calm the tension!

Is there any advice?

how long has the kitten been with you ?
I think you should let the kitten settle in your bedroom for atleast one week before introducing her to your other cat.

Let the kitten get used to you and her new surroundings first. Poor thing she must be so scared and confused right now.

The best way to introduce them is to give the kitten her own blanket to sleep on and same with your other cat. Then after a few days give your cat the kitten's blanket to sleep on and give the kitten your cats blanket. Then eventually they will both smell the same as each other

Your cat might growl or spit at the kitten's blanket at first so try putting a piece of her favourite food on the blanket for her to eat. Also you can buy Felifriend spray. it is a friendly pheromone that cats give off like when they rub their faces on furniture. You only need to spray 1 or 2 squirts and she'll love the smell of the blanket and get used to the smell of the kitten at the same time.

Eventually the kitten will smell like the rest off your home. Just give them both lots of affection when they meet so they don't become jealous of each other.

Also its worth bearing in mind your older bengal may feelleft out with all the attention on the kitten, i've found that if you play withthe older bengal to calm him/her down & then give it a few minutes & try a few minutes togehter.

he idea behind this is that you excise your adult cat, let them rest & then that way the adult should be more relaxed & possibly more welcoming of the kitten..

It all takes time though, It took about a month for Shelly to accept Harry... The best advice I can give it do not rush it. I'm sure other members will chime in with advice & suggestions.
