LOL this little habit makes me laugh - all the cats i've ever known have done it.

Sometimes Saffy will do this if she doesn't like the food i've put down, before she's even tried it.
As if to say " Err, there's no way i'm eating that S*@! - quick, bury it":lol:

My Sassy does the pawing (usually while staring meaningfully at Kaiser), but Kaiser never has. Sassy also follows Kaiser into the litter box and finishes burying his poop, (thank heavens because he is terrible at it) And she will also cover Kaiser's hairballs and throw-up with anything she can find laying around (socks, newspapers, dishtowels).

The other thing (which is pretty funny) is my husband has a slice of bread with his dinner every night which he places on the table, and while he is getting his dinner from the kitchen, she will jump up on the table and attempt to cover up his bread with whatever is laying on the table. That is the only people food that she attempts to cover up.
