I think in Germany you have to pay for the plastic bags in the grocery store. Something like 5 or 10 cents per bag. They do that at the Aldi stores here in the US, too.

My girl, Sassy, is crazy about plastic. She especially likes the really thick shiny kind. She licks it for ages, with her little feet kneading away. She also likes to crawl inside bags, hide and wait for the boy to come wandering by - she is my pouncer and can jump on him from any position, but nothing is as much fun as jumping from the inside of a plastic bag.

My boy, Kaiser, had a plastic bag incident when he was young. After crawling inside the bag his head got stuck in the handle and when he took off running it sailed behind him like a big noisy parachute. It terrified him, and it took both my husband and I to corner him and rescue him. So now when Sassy jumps out at him from a plastic bag - he jumps around 3 feet in the air, and Sassy runs off (and I swear I can hear her snickering)

cats and plastic bags they all love it.
my cats love all bags actually, my GF quickly learned to close her bags as they will climb inside and search it for toys.
they also quickly learn the usage of them, once i come home with a bag, they wait by the fridge as they know i will open it to put the things inside, just as they will run to the front door when i fetch my keys from the desk.

i usually do not let them play with the bags as most plastic bags have color prints on them, i don't think they are healthy and the sound annoys me after a while. instead i give them a fresh paper ball.
