Sorry to hear you're still having wee related problems ,
As far as food is concerned we give are cats tinned whiskas or Felix (one tin between 5, with biscuits on top, twice a day, and have 3 bowls of dried biscuits down all day (their favourite being Purina One).

But as I'm at home during the day Oska (our Bengal) gets a couple of extra helpings, he lets me know when he's hungry

At the weekend we also give Oska and Harvey (our maine coon) some raw food usually chicken wings or lamb mince. It's got to the stage now where Oska associates the microwave with treat food, no matter where he is in the house he hears you open the microwave door and is there shouting at you for his food

Well after our trip to the Pet Shop we found they didn't stock Royal Canin but they had Hills Science Plan and they had it on offer buy 2 bags get 1 free. So we ended up with the Kitten Science Plan and tins of Felix Roasted.

We've read the packets and the HSP states 90g per day and the Felix says 1 tin a day. So we worked it out and we are giving them 33g of HSP in the morning, 33g of HSP for lunch then they get 1/4 of a can of Felix in the evening.

Is this enough food? They still look for food but is that just them being greedy?

I tend to give Oska food when he wants it, usually about 4 to 5 times a day, he's not a big cat.

Sometimes they do it to combine scents....yours and his together = extra powerful protection!

Maybe he's been unsettled by something or unhappy somehow with a new change in his schedule, provided the area has been totally neutralised of his scent and he feels secure once again he should stop!

It may just be part of maturity though....how old is he now?

Have you tried disinfecting and changing the litter tray twice a day? I do this with mine and it seems to have put a stop to 'presents' outside the litter tray. We do go through a couple of bags of it a week though.

Try a diferent brand of litter - ours do much better on clumping litter rather than the wood litter the breeder was using.

Think about the location of the litter box, is it private but with enough 'escape potential'. Are there ever times when they are stressed when using the tray/don't have access?

I have read that putting down lots of litter trays in or near the places that they have been going does work. Then you can gradually move them nearer to the area you actually want them to use. Then reduce the number.

Alternatively, feed them, have a 10 min play session. Shut yourself in a small room with them (e.g. a bathroom) and a litter tray, put them in the litter tray and wait until they go. This will get them used to using the litter tray again.

I have found that giving mine a kitty treat and lots of praise after they have used the tray really helps. Only now I wonder if they are straining to 'produce' just because they want a treat! Lol.

Seriously though, I do sympathise with you. However, I really think you can cure this. As well as making areas where they have been going unattracive (I found a little saucer of vinegar helped), you need to get them back into the habbit of using the litter tray again. There are loads of books on training a cat to do this, have a look on amazon.

If all else fails, you could get a cat behaviourist in to help you. Might be expensive but sure worth it...
