Zeus is still a BABY in many respects. I have had that happen with me, with Dagger ONCE... but he's been sleeping with me regularly.
Consider yourself lucky, if he wasn't laying against YOU when he did it (grin) Dagger was sleeping slammed against me so when I felt the <span style='color:blue'>"warm wet"</span> -- he was still doing that little paws twitching dream sleep. He had actually done it IN HIS SLEEP. So NO way could I even be angry, even though I had to change the sheets, matress pad AND my jammies
I think they MAY be a little like "human" children, and that sometimes if they drink a lot, before they go to sleep - they do it in their sleep, much the same as a toddler would.
I can't remember exactly how old Zeus is -- but that would be my FIRST inclination.
MY first "attempt" to correct the behavior would be to take the water bowl up, a little while before bedtime... that way, he wouldn't be "drinking" close to bedtime, the same as you would restrict how much a child would drink before bedtime, if they were "wetting the bed". I can't do that, because I have an OLDER cat, who I need to have water down for at all times. So I resorted to a "waterproof matress cover, and since I bought that, he hasn't done it, again
Just a suggestion.
I know it's like "punishing" Hestia, too -- but if they get into a "pattern" that the water isn't available after a certain time, at night --- it MIGHT help.
The only other thing I can think of, is if Zeus is old enough to be beginning to get his "mature" hormones... he might be in the early stages of "marking" what is his. If that is the case, having his "surgery" may correct it, with NO action from you. Just make sure anything he has "weed" on has been cleaned with something that neutralized the odor - or he will continue to go to those spots.
Hopefully someone with more experience with bengals than me, might have some other suggestions.
Good Luck !!!
