Hi,

I am considering a job offer in Singapore and want to be sure I can bring my Bengal ("Bailey") with me. I had adopted her from a cattery 6 years ago and love her company though she is a little bossy :)

Anyways, I noticed that Singapore requires documented proof that your Bengal is F5 and above to bring the pet into the country. I need to look at the paperwork the cattery supplied me but am now worried that this will be an issue.

2 Questions:
1) Does anyone have experience with a similar case? ( ie moving to Singapore with a bengal)
2) If I don't have any paperwork stating she is F5 or above.... what can I do to get something along those lines

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Congratulations on the job offer. Do you have registration papers on your kitty? If you do, you can get a pedigree (or you may already have that). Pedigrees to get into other countries must be certified by registrar. (TICA, WCF, CFA, GCCF, etc.).

If your bengal is not registered, then that will be required. Contact your breeder. If your breeder is no longer breeding, then it could be an issue. This is why I recommend EVERYONE register your bengals. You just NEVER EVER know -- not everyone will be offered a job in another country BUT this has been brought up before on this forum, so you are not the first one to have this problem.

If you have a registered cat with a pedigree name, give me the name and I'll check it against my database and see if I can give you the actual F generation of your kitty.

You have not returned to ask further questions. What customs will be looking for is a bengal that is an SBT. If you are in the US and register with TICA, their early generation bengals are designated with an A1, B2, C3 for their F1, F2, F3 bengals. An F4 becomes an SBT, thus a pedigree with parents who are SBT bengals would suffice to give your bengal an F5 or higher. I'm not sure if other registrars have specific codes for early generation bengals.
