Hi Filthy_gorgeous
We often bath our cats before a show...especially if they haven't been bathed within a couple of months. The rule of thumb is not to bath the cat within a few days of the show or you cat's fur will be really fluffy. We usually bath them the weekend before the show…however, in saying that we went to a show on Saturday and we only got round to bathing the cat on Tuesday evening...she must of looked OK as she won her Open and got a CC (Challenge Certificate)
It's not essential to bath them but if you do, remember to use proper cat/dog shampoo (not human shampoo)
Also, on the day, take a set of nail clippers (just in case you find a claw that needs clipping) and some ear-buds. If it's a GCCF show make sure before you leave the show hall that you check and clean the following:
Eyes - wipe any sleep away
Nose - If your cat eats meat the chances are (s)he'll have dried meat around her nose...if (s)he has, pick it off (Sounds gross but needs must
)
Ears - Check inside the ears for wax and use cotton wool buds to clean them.
We have a show list that we print off before the show and tick things off the list as we pack them…I’ll post a copy of it later when I get home.
Hope that helps!
