Hello,

Me and my partner are really starting to struggle with our 9 month old bengal kitten. We got her in November last year and in terms of the kitten itself she has been really good with her litter tray and eating and drinking... she is totally loving towards me and she is really good with my boyfriends 3 year old son.

However, i have got issues at the moment where she keeps chewing phone chargers, tv wires, wifi wires and i am having to replace them all the time. Now, i have looked into this and i have bought her new toys to try and stimulate her with them, i have covered the wires up with black tape and put a nasty smell on them - which has worked.

I can't put the smell on everything as i don't want the house to smell disgusting. But, with phone chargers i have started moving them out of the way - but if they are on charge for even 5 minutes, it's the first thing she goes to to bite... and she has just destroyed some more this morning and i've had to buy some more off amazon...

i absolutely adore her and she is a lovely addition to the family, but it's driving my partner insane that he can't charge his phone.

has anyone got any tips of anything else i can do??help is needed!

Another topic here talked about critter cords. Since phone chargers are fairly portable, I might wrap some small towels around the cord. Note cords attract many kittens. Do not blame your baby! I realize your electrical outlets are down by the floor, but it should be easy to temporary wrap the cords in something your baby can't chew through. Eventually, she should stop.

Note, toys will not work!

Sherry thankyou for your response any suggestions on what to cover the wires up that won't harm the cat. We have taken as many wires as possible out of reach of her but it's impossible to not have any wires at all showing.


Brianj12 thankyou for your sarcastic and non helpful tone. I thought thus would be a friendly forum where I could get some advice from experienced cat owners. Instead a very presumptuous response especially the negligence when you don't know anything about me. For the record the voltage you would receive from the wires would not harm the cat unless she was directly influencing the mains through the socket. I'd appreciate if you didn't have anything constructive to help with my post and therefore potential solutions to the aforementioned issue for you not to add any more comments.

Do you have any extra dish towels or hand towels? I would simply wrap the cord inside the towel. The only problem I would see is when the cord is vertical and the towel may not hold. I might also recommend a power strip so that your cords are up on a table which may not be beyond the reach of your kitty, but you cn wrap the cord them. Do you think the kitty would want to nibble on the power strip cord? I do know they have cord covers that will cover regardless of how the cord is -- vertical or horizontal. I know this is an issue for you -- and we are trying to help you. Maybe someone else has a suggestion. I'm just saying if I had a kitten with this chewing problem, this is how I would solve it. I really hope you find something that works.
