We usually go camping in arid, hot areas but this past weekend, we camped in a mountain forest campground. It was cool, and lovely, but ooooh the mosquitoes!
Is there anything I can do to help keep the mosquitoes from biting Quasar?

There is pet repellent good for mosquitoes -- just google it and you can purchase it online or at pet stores. I am just so amazed that Quasar loves camping. Mine would throw a hissy fit.

When I lived in the deep south, every man woman and beast got garlic supplements. Or just garlic cloves chopped up in the food. It wasn't perfect, but it helped a lot.

I found a citronella based spray on Amazon. My only concern is that Quasar reacts strongly to scent. I'm worried he might lick himself bare trying to get it off. I'll try a small patch first.

Any pet repellant that claims it can be used on cats, should be safe to use on cats. We do not have a huge mosquito problem where I live, but I have to swat some away from Raiden when we are walking. They don't seem to like me much, which is good. I am married to an Italian who will wreak of garlic -- it seems to pour out of his pores! LOL. He uses OFF!

Considering you can purchase garlic supplements for cats and dogs in most pet shops, no it's not toxic.

However, any substance can be toxic in large enough quantities, use common sense.

Also there are some dog breeds that cannot tolerate it. Again, use common sense.

I'm not sure about the safety of essential oils for cats. However, I used a blend of Lavender and Geranium essential oils on a recent trip, and the mosquitoes left me alone. They all attacked my husband instead
