Kris,
Oh my gosh this just came across on a bengal list---Hope I am allowed to cut and paste--but the idea of this happening scared me to death--------
I have a question I would like to present of the older more experienced breeders. I am considering ordering several cat genies for my small breeding program, but wanted to make sure they're worth the cost. Has anyone had any experience using them or would advise me against using them?
The idea of a self-cleaning, self-sanitizing litter box would definetely make cleaning litter-boxes easier and give me the freedom to spend more time sanitizing the rooms, and spending time with the kitties. But I don't want to waste the money if it's not worth it.

and the reply:
Don't know your brand that you are looking at or if they have improved the product. I will never ever have one.
Reason: A person purchased a Geoffroy Cat from me. It was a pet and she totally loved the cat. She used a cat genie for the litter box. Geoffroys are like kittens their entire life. Always interested in every little thing that moves.
The Geoff went to the bathroom and the genie started to clean when the cat got out. Well the cat stuck its' head in and the cleaning arm jammed. The breeder came home from work to find her Geoffroy dead with a broken neck. The cat twisted and could not get its head free and broke its neck.
In doing research, I have found other people who have had the same problem. Luckily they were home and they did not loose their pet.
