First and foremost I'd like to first of all say, I have a vet appointment for my boy on Friday morning, 8 just wanted to get advice or experience on something like this.

I've noticed a small black smooth lump on Toby's shoulder (he's two next month) it doesn't seem to cause him pain. It's small.

Does anyone have any experience in what this could be? Like I say I have an appointment for him

Can you provide a little more detail as to exactly where?

Is it where his front legs meet his body?

More in his neck?
Back of the skull?

Is it in a joint?

Lots of possibilities depending on the exact location.

Thanks, it's literally on the back of his neck at the side. Very small, maybe half the size of a ladybug

I see that you are in the UK - could it be a tick ? Look with a magnifying glass and you might see it move.

Otherwise, try and take a photo for us to look over.

Definitely not a tick, i did check for that. It can't be seen through his fur but when you stroke his neck you can feel it

Oh I should also mention, it's hard to take a picture as I need to part all of his fur just to see it, and little Sir runs off, not because it's causing him pain, but he can always tell when I'm petting him to distract him

My bengals seems to have something similar -- however, he gets poked and prodded when he goes to the vet and they have never said anything. However, Raiden's "lump" may be his shoulder bone that I see moving back and forth as he walks. A vet will be able to give you the definitive answer.

Assuming this is a hard lump under the skin and it doesn't move when the skin does; it sounds to me like it's a bone growth on the sagittal crest (sometimes referred as Worfs Ridge). This can happen on Bengals; it's not common but it's not rare either (I have a cat with this type of growth).

If this is what it is; it's completely harmless.

It's more common in EG; but definitely happens in SBTs.

Only a couple more days and you will find out for sure what this lump is. In the meantime, don't worry about it because there is nothing you can do at this point until you see the vet.
