Glad I’m off for a week because Mambo decided he was bored this morning and scaled the baby gates like they weren’t even there.

I was wondering if you had a baby gate that covered the entire doorway.

I tried a baby gate when we brought Quasar home. He wasn't in the safe room for 15 minutes before he jumped out, over the gate. I did find the gate helpful in giving him a space to stay away from the dog and eat (and toilet) in peace but it wouldn't have been helpful at keeping other kitties out.

When we wanted to keep Quasar in his room, we had to close the door.

I'm kind of surprised your resident cats haven't jumped in to the safe room.

Well I am happy to report that my new baby boy has had total run of the house (supervised of course), and not only has there not been a single incident, but Sunny (my jealous monster), has befriended him. In the last 24 hours, if they aren’t asleep, they are playing: Running, chasing, wrestling, and otherwise having a blast.

Steve the cat has stopped hissing at him, and other than occasionally sniffing Mambo kitten, he’s basically indifferent to him.

Everyone is going to be supervised closely for the next 2 days, and if those are incident free, I think I can call this a success.

Since you are returning to work, you might want to either invest in a wireless surveillance camera to watch things remotely (unfortunately, you won't be able to do anything), but you can at least observe and make sure things are still going well. My two, who have been together for more than two years, do fine most of the time, but every now and then, my bengal will viciously attack my DSH. I don't want you worrying about them while you are at work, but it sounds as if things are going swimmingly well. Congratulations.

That’s a very good idea, I may just do that.

Would love an update on how things have been going since you're returned to work.
