A quick update to this thread.

I have finally put down a deposit on the Bengal's playmate.

He is an Egyptian Mau and is 1 month older than the Bengal. He comes home in early April, a month before the Bengal.

He was easily the most active and boisterous of the lot. He was not the biggest of the litter, but seemed to be the most dominant. He was brave, bold and showed no fear. His personality seemed identical to the Bengal I chose.

Ive already put up the following cat tree in preparation for his arrival.

Hi OP, I came across this forum post as I'm thinking about pretty much the same thing. I can see it's almost 10yrs old, so if you see this it would be good to know how you've got on.

I'm planning on taking a 2yr old Bengal from a friend who needs to rehome her due to having a lot of work travel & I'm thinking of getting a Maine Coon kitten too. A lot of the Maine coon breeders say you should have at least 1 other cat as they're such a sociable breed. Anyway reading through the posts on this forum has made me think that they should get on well :)

Welcome Mr Pineapples. Know that Maine Coons are calm, collected cats. Bengals are energetic and rough-and-tumble kitties. They are pretty much at opposite ends of the cat spectrum. That is not to say they can't get along, but the Maine Coon is generally not a playmate for a bengal. Proper introduction in the beginning is the key and you need a lot of patience to deal with this. Since you currently don't have any cats -- getting them at the same may be the key. But know that you may have to do the playing with the bengal as 2 years old is barely out of kitten stage and bengals need a lot of stimulation to get rid of their hyper energy.
