We are attempting to spread the word regarding Boris, part tabby, part Bengal, and an amazing little boy. Please see: http://avoncatrescue.org/Homing.html

About a month ago, we took Boris home from Avon Cat Rescue, Welford, near Stratford-upon-Avon. He had only recently been brought-in but was an extremely handsome chap, whom we fell in love with. However, at that point, nobody realised that Boris was anything more than a tabby who was on the vocal side (we have always been nothing more than tabby owners).

However, over the following two weeks, it became clear to all, that Boris contains a great deal of Bengal in him - his vocal character, range of sounds and communications, and love of human company. He is very affectionate.

As Boris's story emerged subsequently, it appears that he has had a very rough time. His original owner died and Boris was nearly put down alongside the owner's dog. He was then taken in by an elderly lady but didn't get on with her dog. He then lived under a camper van for a month before coming to the rescue home.

When he came to us, he took to his food bowls, litter tray and home environment straight away. However, he was very vocal at night (and increasingly in the day) as he wanted to be-out all the time (despite being walked on a lead several times a day). He became very distressed if he couldn't go out (scratching and head-butting the door), so we eventually skipped the part about keeping a new cat in for so many weeks and let him out. However, unfortunately he proved to have very little road sense - to the point of being oblivious to fast-moving traffic.

We so wanted to provide Boris with a loving home and miss him very much but for his safety and sanity, as well as ours, we had to return him to Welford. Had he stayed with us, he would have been undoubtedly been killed on the road, not a fate this little boy deserves.

He has a wonderful character and deserves lots of love in the right home, away from any main/busy roads where he has the freedom to roam night and day. Somewhere with a lot of land - stables/farm etc. would suit him very well. He's 5-6 years old, and would make the right owner, a lovely companion.

If you think you can provide him with the right environment and love, please contact Avon Cat Rescue at the link above - all contact details are on the site.

Many Thanks
