Hi

My Bengal Bella has not returned home since letting her out before work on 30th July at approx. 8am in the Kingsthorpe Grove area of Northampton. She has never not come home before and I am worried sick. My boyfriend and I have been calling her morning, noon and night but I don't think she if near enough to hear us as she usually meows when I call her in from the garden.

I have posted flyers through neighbours doors, in our local shop and have called round vets to let them know she is missing as well as registering her on the national pet register as missing. Tomorrow I am going to notify the microchipping database and contact the Cats Protection League as they know when cats have been involved in road traffic accidents.

I am trying my best to stay positive but it's so hard not to think the worst, i'm terrified shes been stolen or hit by a car! We are considering offering a reward for her return.

If you have any advice or inspiration stories I would be very grateful, we're trying to keep our spirits up.

Thank you!

There's lots of stories I've seen here about them coming back after days/weeks I disagree with letting cats roam but that doesn't help right now. I'm into catching critters and have a trick. The reason "redeye" happens in pictures is the flash is close room the lens. If you hold a bright flashlight (torch UK?)close to your eyes animals eyes will glow. Its especially true in predators including insects and spiders. If your calling or your cat recognizes your cars sound they'll look right at you and light up if the cat doesn't know you they run first.

Good luck.

Hi I've only just seen this. Have you found her? I hope you have!

My Siamese, Sly, stayed with my dad when I left home, because they were best mates & I didn't want my dad to be on his own. Then my dad decided to go on holiday, which was unheard of for him & off he went to the north pole

Sly came to stay with me. On the third day he sneaked out when my kitties went out. I looked everywhere for him, posted leaflets through doors & put posters in shops. I heard nothing at all, it felt like forever. I had put adverts in the paper, but I changed it to say there was a reward & got a phone call the day after!

A lady had seen him hanging about in her garden for a couple of days. As soon as I went into her garden & called his name, he came flying at me from the top of her garage, all purrs & kisses. The little monkey had been missing for nearly 3 weeks & only came home the day before my dad did. Where he was found, was about 4 miles from my house, he didn't know the area so wouldn't have known which way to go to come back. I think he was trying to get back to my dad's. Little lamb he had about another 15 miles to go.

Try offering a reward. Do more leaflets to hand out, asking people to check their garages & sheds, in case she's got locked in. Check any building sites, also any commercial units. Put up as big a poster as you can at all the large supermarkets in your area. Try contacting your council too as they usually keep a record of any cats that are involved in road accidents.

She's a beautiful cat, I hope you find her.

Hi,

I hope Bella has come back by now. I've just logged onto this forum as we are painfully considering rehoming our little girl Saki as she keeps wandering off -(she does come back every 3 or 4 days to check in and eat) but is a natural wanderer and having some issues with her brother and we think .. getting attention elsewhere.

But - Last year she disappeared - it was awful, I didn't sleep I cried constantly as I assumed the worse. I printed out posters, mailshotted everwhere, through doors, pinned to lamposts, shop noticeboards (a cat loving friend helped me) 13 days later, she pitched up in the middle of the night, mieowing loudly to announce her return, snuggled up and followed me around for days afterwards. They are amazing and can find their way back! I think with her the hot weather encouraged her out and to explore.

Don't give up. It's absolutely heartbreaking and normal to assume the worst. Print out some posters - stick them in the local shops. Register her as missing with the local vets. Go out and call her and if she's insured, the insurance will probably cover some posters etc and a reward. I had one 'sighting' of her when she was missing and ended up camped out in a field at midnight, 7 months pregnant searching for her!!

Our neighbours - 2 doors down went through an even worse experience, their cat disappeared for 7 weeks. They didn't sleep. She had been spotted in a village a few miles away and handed into vet. Please don't give up.

Good Luck and come home soon Bella :)

fingers crossed you'll find her.

I would say search a 10 mile radius, that is with putting fliers up and contacting vets and rescue centers.
