I have read all your comments here. I was reported to RSPCA once. Our cat went missing (presumed dead - before my bengal girls) and we re homed a feral kitten who never became a nice domesticated cat. He lived mostly outside coming in to eat and hide from the weather.
When we were on holiday (the cats had a person coming to feed them and a cat flap) someone did something to him or he did it to himself but his fur solidified completely on his back, as if someone poured glue on him.
Took him to the vet and the only thing was to shave him. He then looked awful, with tufs of hair here and there and no wonder someone reported us.
The lady came in, I locked the cat flap to catch him if he comes in to show her but he never turned up. She told me straight away after hearing the story that my home smelled lovely, my other cat looked good and she had no concerns about the story being true.
But I don't doubt that the stories I read about are true. I think that when people get to some sort of power, they think they can do what they like, often forgetting the law. Then it pretty much comes down to those smart enough to argue like Louise did about her dog, or those that take their authority to mean the law and allow them to do what they like. It is sad that they have such strick policy on re homing, especially when they destroy the animals that don't find the home
