Hi Matt/Neighbour/Fellow Canadian :)
Diablo has been my only Bengal child for 4 years. I recently stayed with a woman who had a cat and a huge dog (golden retriever/chow mix). My kitty never knew what another 4 legger even was! At first the rambunctiousness of the dog frightened him, and the other cat kept hissing at him. But he slowly built up his courage, and became really calm and cool around them. And the three of them became best buddies. So, I knew if I ever decided to add to the family household, he would be fine.
I only decided to adopt another Bengal when I would do replacement hours at the office, and would be gone for 12 hours at a time. Diablo was crazy hyper when I came home, which was perfectly understandable. I also figured I could handle another Bengal, so decided to go for it, and have never regretted my decision. From the minute Star put her little paws down here, she owned the place! She has got spunk and makes me laugh everyday. I love The Two Accomplices as I call them, both equally, so big brother Diablo is never jealous.
And yes, financial is another reason to wait. As it turns out, I suspected when I first went to see Star, that she had some sort of health problem, as although her eyes, ears, and nose were clear, she sneezed occasionally, and it turns out she has Feline Herpes. Lysine chews have not helped at all, so today, I picked up some antibiotics for her. Cost $53.00. If it works for the first ten days, we will continue on for 2 more months at two doses per week. I will need a couple more bottles if this works! I am prepared to do whatever it takes to make her well. The sneezing has escalated in the last week and it upsets me, because she sneezes so hard and her nose seems to get blocked up after that.
