Week 3 with my F1 kitten Ares

So this past 3 weeks has been an experience. Ares is the most awesome cat i have ever had. Everything with him is intense. He greets me like my Siamese never would. He's so loyal and protective even as a small kitten. He follows me everywhere and comes when i call him. My buddy and I were wrestling around and Ares decided he was being too rough so he growled in a voice i didn't even know he had and tried his hardest to get him off me. It was hilarious. He joins me in the shower, almost got trapped in the toilet a few times, and is more likely to knock over the water bowl than drink out of it. He's more like a dog than a cat and everyday with him confirms my reasoning for getting an F1. Can't wait to see him grow into an even more awesome cat.

I have 3 F3s and they all do some of the things you described and are pretty cool looking, too. But DAMN I want an F1 now! :biggrin:

He is a gorgeous little guy. But I do have to say, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the pictures with him outside. You should really, REALLY be extremely careful of letting him outside - in fact, I would highly recommend you do not let him out like that at all without a proper harness or inside a fully enclosed cat-proof area. I'm only saying this because I genuinely don't want something bad to happen to him, I am sure you would be heartbroken... All it would take is one spook and he could take off, get hit by a car, etc. I have heard of many F1s escaping, never to be seen again. They are not like normal domestic cats when it comes to being let outside. Once matured, the chances of 'instincts' kicking in and him wanting to take off for good are very real. As I said, many F1s are never seen again if they escape... I would not let my F1 out of the house for ANYTHING. He is only allowed on our screened in porch, and even then, only when I am right there to supervise. Wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for the advice and you concern. I will surely keep it in mind. However, he's not roaming freely outside. He decided to follow me to the car to get my wallet so I decided to snap a couple pictures. It was over the span of maybe 20 seconds. It was his first time being outside out of his carrier and it is not something I'm willing to let happen all the time. I am however thinking of walking him with a harness when he's bigger but for the next year or so he's going to live in his room safely away from the dangers of the world. Again thanks for the advice as I would be devastated to lose him.
