Oh wow - these pics are amazing!!! I am so jealous that your cat can do that with you! Mine are still yet to get walking jackets but they will have them soon enough! We got given a couple of harnesses which were a bit shoddy, Aya's one was ok.. when I finally got it on (SOOO HARD with a cat that is more wriggly than a worm!! ) Samadhi's was useless... he wriggled free of it and ended up next door under the neighbours deck meowing cos he didnt know where we were so OH had to go get him out. LOL that was the last time they went out.. I said until we have proper jackets, we can't let them out.

Eventually I would love to do the same.. take my kitties outdoors walking with me. Did you start Pouncey off on a lead? Or train him to make sure he comes to you when called? How does one get their cats to a stage of being trustworthy off a lead?

I think people misunderstand what run away is. Its play time or give me a minute or curiosity. But we overreact and it scares them, then the run more and yell, then we get madder then they run more.... its a downward spiral and the decline of the trust bond. We need to trust them to come back. Give them time its an existing and scary thing for both you and your cat.

i absoultly LOVE the pics!!!! its makes me so jealous cause i know every cat would love to go on the adventures he does. especially mine. the pics came out great~ im not sure where yall went camping but it looks pretty. love looking at all the pics you take of him.

Viperkeeper - I have no suggestion for a safe way of keeping your device on a cat that isn't some form of breakaway collar. And even breakaway collars are not fool safe. Unless you can make it small enough to implant, like a microchip... maybe you should look at that There are new microchips that also record your cat's temperature so there is no need for a thermometer up the bum Although, being a nurse, i can't really see how it could be that accurate at reading a core temperature as it's under the surface of the skin But including some form of tracker might be doable....

PhelanVelvel - Your idea actually works as a good breakaway collar.

I still disagree when you say that it would be difficult for your cats to get stuck on something. I have always had cats and they were always (until recently) allowed in/out at leisure. I always insisted on collars but i would only buy breakaway ones that i could easily break open. Any stiff/difficult ones i refused to buy/use. I must have brought loads over the years, over 100 i bet. The cats would come home without them all the time. I would find them in the autumn on tree branches, rose bushes etc. We used to have a Wysteria at our old house that the cats used to love to climb.... It would always have a few decorative collars hanging from it


The ones that don't breakaway at all or are hard pose a huge risk of strangulation. I have heard of numerous occasions where cats have hung on door handles or branches.


The elsaticated ones are some of the worse ones as they just stretch and a cat can be caught in them causing horrific injuries
