Per Heidi's request, I am sending a couple of photos of my NON bengal porch kitty - *Moonlight*

And, while I'm at it -- slipping in last year's "group photo" for my family -- and the new "this year's" family photo I'm working on, for addition to "Christmas Cards"

Naturally, after seeing all of the wonderful photos of Heidi's family -- and the line-up of rosettes -- it brings me a little embarassment over my little Dagger's SINGLE rosette (sigh)

Moonlight looks a real pretty girl.....does she ever come inside or can she not even bear the other cats company for a moment?

As for the rosettes....In my earlier post I did mention that its a little different over here in the uk, At some shows they just seem to quite literally throw rosettes at the cats just for turning up!

Also some of the ways they are judged are different.....for instance "Evvie" will compete against a cat that has won best of breed in the bengal open class.....and she will win over it in the female oriental kitten class.....sometimes it doesn't make much sense, .....But hey "we're British" :rolleyes:

Just to give some perspective, In our last show I don't think any of the 253 cats didn't get a rosette.....Also the bengal breed is more established in the u.s, Meaning more bengals enter the show....in the u.k any general cat show is lucky if it has more than 10 out of 250 that are bengals.....The shows in the u.s seem to be much harder judged and much more competative aswell as the extra numbers of bengals, So Daggers rosette is quite a big achievement for a young boy


Anywho......one rosette...or a million rosettes.....it's all good!

What matters most is the taking part.....And maybe also the fact that someone wearing a white coats and a judges badge thinks your handsome bengal boy is better looking and sings a better song than someone elses handsome bengal boy!

But the best of all is hearing members of the public comment about your cat as they're walking around.....about how her coats looks or how vocal he is, etc etc.........Thats the proudest moment for me and is worth more than all the rosettes in the world!

I just want to highlight what meemonkey said about our shows, they are different over here and I'm convinced the organisers feel bad if people go home without a rosette and so try to make sure that everybody gets something

At the OBCC Show we even got a rosette just for entering one particular class :blink: . I always enter as many classes as possible, the minimum that you can enter is usually 3 and the maximum can be anything up to 12 and it's not uncommon to be in a class where there are only 3 or 4 other cats which is cheating really because everybody gets placed and thus everybody gets a rosette. There are also a lot of fun classes like ?Softest Coat? and ?Largest Whisker Pads? not to mention the charity classes.

There?s only one class that really counts at our shows and that?s the Open, but I can never resist from entering as many classes as possible no matter how daft they are...It?s all fun at the end of the day!

I've just been admiring the adorable "Moonlight" aka "Mamacat" aka "Porch kitty", thanks for posting the pics, she's beautiful. I LOVE the colour of her coat it's almost silver. She looks very happy and content....especially in last year pic...I wonder if she knows how lucky she is

Loving the family photos.....so many cats, but I can't help thinking that you should round up the numbers to a nice easy 10....surly there's a little gap somewhere.....just a tiny one

Actually, Moonlight aka MamaCat or Porch Kitty was named "moonlight" because her fur is "glittered" as well as the color of moonlight...(at least to me) she is a lovely little girl - and we normally make one of the upstairs bedrooms a "winter suite" for her. Our winters are mild, and she much prefers to be OUTDOORS... but when the temperatures dip below 30 degrees -- I often bring her in, no matter how much she protests.

She really does NOT like being indoors (except of the additional "petting" time. (grin)

And I will be moving within a year -- and am already concerned about "upsetting the balance" with so many varied little purrsonalities --- so I wouldn't add another, until AFTER the move... and possibly not even THEN!
