Quick update. We have had Bailey for just over a week now. First 5-6 days he was pretty much in seclusion in a separate bedroom. The resident Bengals were not very interested or concerned about the new scent in the house and they pretty much went about their normal routine. Gradually we would crack the door open so they could see each other, then got a grate to place over the door for more contact. This weekend we finally left the door open and let them interact more. There was some hissing and a few puffy tails but overall the weekend went pretty well. Corbie seems very curious about him and they do touch noses without incident now. Lola is still a bit more unsure but even with her no major episodes. Still have Bailey secluded during the day when we are at work but plan on giving them more face to face time with each passing day. Hopefully they will become friends and hang out and play together. Keeping our fingers crossed.

Great strides are being made. As long as they aren't aggressive toward each other. Hissing, growling, touching noses is fine. Even playing is good. But, do not let the cats hurt each other. It is always a gamble when you add another cat. Sounds like you're doing everything right. Congratulations.

That great news. Sounds like they're going to be great mates given time.

Nice one Cranberry, that was an interesting watch. Apparently I did things mostly wrong when introducing Bryan to our resident Max. Thankfully Max had only been with us 5 wks prior to Bryan arriving and they are only 3 wks difference in age.

Well, perhaps our first bump in the road today. Corbie and Bailey seem to be getting along very well over the past week. They play together, Corbie seems to be very tolerant of him, although he does not like to play for extended periods like Bailey. We spend extra time running Bailey around to burn off his extra energy and Corbie joins in as little or as much as he likes. Today Corbie displayed some new behavior. Bailey was under a scratching board, pawing at Corbie. Corbie was making some unusual chirping noises. He grabbed Bailey by the back of the neck and pinned him down. No growling from Corbie but Bailey was complaining about being pinned down but a cat that is 10+ pounds bigger than him. This went on for about 30 seconds before I separated them and I put Bailey back into his safe room for the day. Seemed like a pretty clear dominance display by Corbie but it was the first such behavior we have seen. Perhaps just tired of playing? Needed a time out from each other? We had been doing very well so perhaps we were due for a little hiccup?

There will be one dominant cat in very household. The one that says, "I'm the boss here and I'm gonna let you know it." Bailey will grow over the next few months, but Corbie will continue to want to dominate. I don't know of a household of multiple cats where they don't scuffle at some point. I've been letting the outdoor cat inside (especially since it is getting warmer here and he has a lot of black fur on him). At times, Raiden and Legs will be sleeping in separate areas, and everything is fine. At times, Raiden wants to rumble and we have to break it up. Legs does not like confrontation and will usually run to the door and start scratching to go out. Legs has been around for almost two years at this point, so they are used to each other and Legs even follows us on our walks most days. However, I cannot get my bengal to stop wanting to beat Legs up. Yesterday, Raiden was on the high platform of his cat tree and Legs was in the condo bunny kicking a toy and all was well. It just changes from day to day and I think you'll find that out as well.

Corbie is just showing dominance and it seems from your description that Bailey wasn't totally submissive as he was complaining, but was accepting.

You should IMO let Corbie be dominant if he wants to and Bailey is accepting, there will always be a dominant cat and better to let them sort it out themselves with supervision from you. Keep an eye out for fighting / Bailey fighting back / one hurting the other, but apart from that its all normal.
